Yahoo! Domains, part 2

I received an e-mail from Yahoo! Domains today saying my domains will soon expire and I will be charged $35 renewal fee for each of my domains.

What?

I transferred all my domains to DreamHost when Yahoo! announced that they will be charging $35 for 1 year renewal months ago! And Yahoo! still tries to charge me. Crazy people.

I had to manually cancel all Yahoo! domain services to avoid paying them.

Yahoo! Domains — crazy!

According to many sources, the domains registered by Yahoo! now cost $34.95 to renew every year — a $25 increase. You can verify this by checking the billing status of your domains.

I had 3 domains registered with them… until yesterday. Yesterday I transferred them to DreamHost (I use their one and only hosting plan) and will be paying $9.95 every year.

No more Yahoo! domains.

I was browsing Microsoft Encarta using Firefox today and decided to listen to Uzbekistan’s anthem. I open the corresponding page and I get this:

Since when browsers are called “Internet software”? The definition is a bit archaic, IMHO.

Audible.com

I had an account at Audible.com and bought one audio book just to see how it was and if I could understand the speech. I am still listening to the book but the piece of software they’re offering which would allow me to listen to the book on my Nokia S60 device didn’t work (because it was written for S60 2nd edition, and I have the 3rd edition). And no other players on my device could play the book, because the book is copy-protected. Therefore I decided to cancel my subscription.

The funny thing is that Audible won’t let me do this if I choose “Technical issues” or “Upset with service” as the reason of leaving (there are also options such as “Financial problems” and “Lack of time” available). They just ask me to call them and they’d help out with the problem. And I became double as upset and decided to choose the “Lack of time” option. My subscription is now cancelled but my account and credit card number are still there…

Now I am trying to find out how can I delete my account.
